National Citizen Service for 1617 year olds this October half term

20 GBP

What is NCS?
NCS is a nationally government funded programme for 16 and 17 year olds from all walks of life, and works towards installing 6 key principals into young people: Social Mix, Inspiration, Increased Responsibility and Independence, Reflection, Challenge, and Social Action.
NCS is also recognised by UCAS and nationally by employers, so the benefits to young people who complete NCS are great. We also have ongoing graduate opportunities for all that finish all phases of the programme. Because of this, NCS ticks so many of the boxes that school and college courses need to achieve when striving for high standards.
Our NCS programme in October half term takes place over the following dates:

Autumn 2017 Wave
Outdoor Activities Residential at: Runways End Outdoor Activity Centre 20th October – 23rd October
Independent Living Workshops: 24th October – 26th October
Social Action Project: Planning to take place 27th and Saturday 28th October. Delivery to take place at the Teenage Market Southampton West quay shopping centre on Saturday 28th October and an fundraising activity chosen by the group Sunday 29th October.

WHAT HAPPENS ON NCS?
Over the course of a 3-night residential the young people take on a range of outdoor activity challenges, such as rock climbing, kayaking and archery. In the second phase of the programme, they gain independent living skills as they attend a series of workshops, including a first aid qualification. Finally, they partner up with a local charity to deliver a social action project, creating a positive and lasting change in their community.

Finally…they graduate - receiving a certificate signed by the Prime Minister. As part of the NCS Graduate Programme, they get access to unique opportunities to continue volunteering and stay connected to each other and their local community.

Cost
There is a small cost to the programme of £50, which covers all food, activities, transport and accommodation while away.
